Too many times I hear from clients and potential clients, why me. Why do I have to pay child support? Why do I have to follow the Order? Why do I have to provide transportation during custodial exchanges? Why do I need a lawyer? Sometimes these questions can be answered very simply. Other times, the answers are more subtle because of specific facts of your case.
You need a lawyer so that the emotion of your case is removed from your decision making process. Too often, people will make irrational decisions, which are guided by emotion, not their best interests. Or, the best interests of their children. Having a lawyer provides a buffer between you and those emotional decisions. Your lawyer should be able to explain your options and what is best for you and the children. Do not be afraid to disagree with your lawyer. Lawyers are not always right. Ask your lawyer to explain why he/she is giving you particular advise
Always remember, we fight the battles, sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. But, we win the war.
