With almost every client, I have to remind he or she how important it is to listen before you speak or answer a question. It does not make a difference whether you are listening to a lawyer, your children, your parents, your employer, or a judge. Without listening, you cannot understand what is being said to you, asked of you or how answer a question effectively for your case. Make sure you understand every question before you answer or try to answer the question. Too often, people interrupt each other during conversation. In everyday conversation, interruptions are expected and not too detrimental. In court, interrupting can be very detrimental as you may reveal facts or answer a question which is not being asked of you. Whether the question it's simple, such as your address, were complex, such as describing an event, without listening you cannot properly answer the question. In court, Time is precious and most of the time no one wants to hear a long story. Think before you answer the question.
